St Stephen's Basic gets Rotary Club of St. Andrew North boost

Operations at the St Stephen's United Basic School in Union Square, Cross Roads, received a much-needed boost last week with the donation of school supplies by the Rotary Club of St Andrew North.
The service club donated a filing cabinet, books, crayons and learning charts to the early childhood institution which has 100 children on its roster.
"We are very grateful for the donation from the Rotary Club of St Andrew North," said an elated Estina Thompson, principal of the school. "It will definitely come in handy."
The principal said the gift of the cabinet would be used to store the students' records, while the posters would assist in enhancing the teaching process.
Thompson also lauded the St Andrew North outfit for the renovation work the group did during the recent summer break.
"The classroom really needed painting. And it was a refreshing feeling to return and see the classroom painted and the bulbs replaced. The room looks much brighter," she said. "This is a good thing that the Rotary Club has done."
The Rotary Club of St Andrew North, as its major project for the year, has committed to installing a computer room at the institution.
